I recall the excitement I felt when I first discovered HubSpot’s free CRM. It felt like discovering a treasure chest, robust functionality, a clean interface, and, most importantly, completely free. My startup used it religiously for about eighteen months before we started hitting walls.

The marketing automation features we desperately needed were locked behind a $800/month paywall. Advanced reporting is required for even pricier tiers. What started as “free forever” suddenly looked like a very expensive proposition.
